FRENCH PRESS
-
1 12 ounce French press (3 cups)
-
1 Scale
-
20 grams of ground coffee (coarse-like grind)
-
300 milliliter of water (200°F)
-
Weigh the quantity of coffee beans and put them into the grinder hopper. Grind just before preparing (coarse-like grind).
-
Pre-heat the empty French Press by pouring hot water in it. This helps maintain the temperature while brewing for best extraction.
-
Once the French Press is pre-heated, empty the hot water and add the ground coffee. Fill the carafe halfway with hot water while making sure to moisten all of the grounds. Start the timer as soon as you add the hot water.
-
At 1 minute, use a wooden spoon or spatula to break the top layer or the «crust». Give it 6 good stirs.
-
Now, fill it all the way up to the metal ring with the hot water. Place the piston on top and let the coffee infuse without pressing it down.
-
You can now bring the French Press with the crockery to the table.
-
At 4 minutes when the timer sounds, you may now stop the infusion by slowly pressing the piston all the way down. Attention! If the piston is pressed down too fast, hot coffee can spurt out and burn yout!!
